What could I do with the Lego NXT system? - nxt ultrasonic
I have two sets of Lego NXT and additional sensors such as infrared seeker, gyros, and of course those who (ultrasound, light, touch, sound, support, etc.) and wondered what could be a challenge to try and with the exploring robot system to the construction process (see Using the two systems together into a big robot motor 6) and increased programming and sensors or other sensors 3rd party
Looking for ideas for the challenges that do not teach from the titles of books that claim to LEGO ideas. This is a plausible challenge could be done with these systems?

It depends on your experience and spend as long as possible. The NXT system is actually quite advanced. If you have enough technical training, research by the Journal of the field of robotics have and see if it is not something you apply.
For example, try to program a mobile robot in order to avoid obstacles. This may seem trivial, but the brightest minds at MIT and Carnegie Mellon still working on this problem. Look at what they do and the extent of the NXT system. In fact, it can do, and we would be very instructive for you.
Alternatively, you can use the money to try to design a controller to stabilize an unstable system completely differently. The construction of a clock hand and 2-D Motion Limited. Then, a design of controller that can maintain the vertical position of the pendulum. I think that the NXT can be fast enough to do this if the right design of the controller. Have a mini-Segway.
